Mark Pasnon & the Baumstammhaus team

About us

Our story

The Baumstammhaus (literally "log cabin") was built in 1985 as a sample house in the industrial area of Walluf to show what a home built from natural wood could look like. Back then, it was one of three sample homes of the same type located in this "greenfield" site. The other buildings were torn down in later years, and the industrial area you see now gradually rose up around the Baumstammhaus.

In 1999, Mark Pasnon and his family started to transform the Baumstammhaus, which was then used partly as office space, into a place for fine dining, celebrated far and wide for its cuisine and unique atmosphere.

Enjoy the atmosphere of a rustic Alpine lodge...

Enter the restaurant and step into the authentic atmosphere of a rustic Alpine lodge of a kind you would expect to find in the Alps or the wilds of Canada – warm and cozy, lovingly decorated with original touches.

No wonder everyone who walks though these doors feels right at home, young or old! Some patrons have even been coming back for three generations now.

We serve generous portions – but we do not specialize in excessive portion sizes, instead focusing on freshness and quality in all the foods we offer.

Daily specials

Our menu is complemented by an ever-changing range of daily specials. They always include a seasonal salad, delicious fish and a special meat dish (we are famed for our sautéed dishes!).

And in the summer, we are happy to welcome guests to our lovely, mature and well-kept garden, which is equipped with parasols. It is a delight to relax outdoors and enjoy the atmosphere with friends and family as the sun slowly goes down in the evening.

Reservations

Reservations are accepted only for Sunday afternoons from noon to 3 p.m. – in the evenings, we do not take reservations, so parties are seated on a "first come, first served" basis. And if all of our tables are full at peak times, it is usually not a problem – guests simply have a brief wait (which they can enjoy with a drink at the bar) before the next table is free, which usually goes smoothly.

During the four weeks leading up to Christmas, we accept table reservations every day so you can make firm plans for Christmas celebrations, for example.

Visit us and savor the relaxed atmosphere at the Baumstammhaus Restaurant in Walluf – we look forward to seeing you!
